  • Overview

    The VP of Operations will support the COO, overseeing forward planning and day-today planning for multi-facility operations. The scope of responsibility includes: management of Vetsource’s fifty state licensed institutional pharmacy and wholesale facilities, purchasing, inventory and product fulfillment, third party fulfillment partners, and a multi-functional customer service call center.

    Vetsource is looking for a candidate that will establish a culture of continuous quality improvement to optimize operations, achieve customer service goals, and company profit objectives using strategic planning and execution. The VP of Operations will drive operational improvement and excellence across Vetsource with special focus on maximizing efficiency, reducing labor costs, increasing productivity levels, management of supply chain and inventory, and customer service satisfaction to. This role will ensure departments meet or exceed performance requirement and execute strategic plans and objectives.

    • Develops and implements overarching operational strategies aimed at maximizing efficiency, productivity, and customer service. Monitors and adapts strategies and plans to seamlessly meet future demand.
    • Develops and implements strategies to assist the business in meeting its critical goals and objectives including but not limited to excellent customer experience and service and operational effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy.
    • Create, implement and measure new metrics to drive change; monitor progress and capture best practices and successes to be used across the enterprise
    • Assists in the creation of performance metrics, reporting and improvement targets for all strategic business units. Implements continual monitoring and review process.
    • Drives lean improvement initiatives in concert with leadership partners including but not limited to initiatives related to waste and/or cost reduction, improved efficiency, superior customer experience, inventory management and risk mitigation.
    • Applies continual quality improvement methodology to organizational processes. Develops and implements initiatives aimed at improving the quality of organizational products, processes, and services.
    • Continuously improves company’s organizational capabilities to achieve process quality as part of project execution, including an awareness of the need to “do it right the first time.”
    • Identifies and eliminates or mitigates major COPQ (cost of poor quality) processes. Reduces defects with the goal of becoming defect-free.
    • Develops, implements, and maintains an effective national strategy by taking knowledgeable risk. Understands and plans re-engineering processes that support the customer and cost structure that drives quality and leads to continuous improvement

    • P&L management, capital expenditure planning, and budget development
    • 14+ years of progressive operational experience including, 12+ years of managerial experience
    • Quality management system experience (Oracle, Cassi, proprietary software, compliance)
    • Experience with change strategy implementation
    • 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing role
    • 3-5 years of Pharmaceutical experience
    • Bachelor’s degree

     Preferred Qualifications:

    • Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Processes certification, lead auditor, metrics and statistics background preferred
    • Continuous quality improvement
    • Master’s degree preferred

    Working Conditions:

    • Environment where dogs are present
    • Sitting at a desk for long periods of time
    • Occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds
    • Occasionally stooping, lifting and/or bending
