  • Overview

    The Regional Director of Sales directs their region's Sales Team of Territory Sales Managers & Key Account Specialist Representatives. The Director sets strategy and policy for Vetsource’s sales function and is responsible for recruiting, hiring and ensuring the team is fully staffed, trained, coached and equipped to achieve outstanding sales results. The East Area Director of Sales is also the liaison between the East Area Sales team, Practice Success Team and other parties including internal departments, Leadership Team, Key Accounts and Strategic Partners to ensure the East Sales Team is informed and optimally functioning to assist in meeting the overall business goals of the company.

    Responsibilities

    • Direct and oversee the organization's sales policies, objectives, and initiatives. 
    • Set short- and long-term sales strategies and evaluate effectiveness of current sales programs that align with corporate goals and programs. Design, define, implement, and revise the sales process for continuing revenue growth.
    • Assess the competition and subsequently launch initiatives to improve sales volume.
    • Develop budgets, policies, and procedures to support the overall functional infrastructure.
    • Own the personnel processes for the East Sales team. This includes facilitating the hiring, on-boarding, scheduling, training, and coaching of all Managers and Team members.
    • Ensure effective prospecting, up- and cross-selling, and pipeline development.
    • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with corporate partners both regionally and nationally.
    • Allocate resources for the achievement of given quota.
    • Develop effective benchmarks for optimum team performance.
    • Meet regularly with Sales Representatives to discuss challenges and successes and provide coaching and training for new hires and current team.
    • Participate in new business initiatives to provide team perspective in preparation for implementation.
    • Collaborate with other Area Directors and Leadership team on the development of plans and initiatives.
    • Ensure training materials are adequate and kept up to date .
    • Drive, motivate and positively encourage Sales Team Members.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of Vetsource affecting the East Sales team.
    • Communicate Vetsource’s value proposition as well as the role of the Sales Team. Work closely with the entire team to provide quality service to customers in as timely a manner as possible.
    • Facilitate regular Team meetings to build Team cohesion via updates and problem solving.
    • Establish and monitor monthly and quarterly Sales Team pipeline, enrollment and revenue goals.
    • Inspire and foster a high-performing sales culture.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:   

    • Oversight of all activities for the East Area Sales Team, as well as the personnel activities of hiring and conducting coaching conversations, including review of performance and goal setting for next quarter.
    • Meets regularly with team both remotely and in person co-travel.
    • Provide sales team with feedback regarding performance metrics to include corrective action if necessary.
    • Responsible for coaching, training, mentoring and motivating their sales team

    • Facilitate process improvement projects with the Team based on sound data analysis.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively listen and communicate information in a clear, calm, and concise manner.
    • Demonstrate sound de-escalation and conflict resolution skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to work independently.
    • Excellent writing skills with great attention to detail.
    • Must be team-oriented and work well with others.

    Education/Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of Sales Management experience with progressive leadership responsibilities.
    • Experience working with Distribution Representatives
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management or equivalent job related experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Understanding of the veterinary pharmaceutical market and experience in a veterinary practice or other healthcare or scientific industry is ideal

    Working Conditions:

    • Veterinary Offices Regularly Visited with Sales Team
    • Remote (home) office environment with extensive phone and computer use
    • Extensive travel required (up to 60%)
